DESTROYED UNDER STATUTE At a meeting at the Treasury to-day, at

which Mr. Wardley of the Treasury, Mr. Kelsie of the

Foreign Office, Mr. Bevir and I were present, the

evacuation of British subjects from Shanghai to

Hong Kong was discussed and the draft telegram

attached was agreed to by the F.0. and the Treasury.

Mr. Bevir agreed to submit it to higher authority
